The Temple of Medinet Habu of King Ramses III is one of the most important and famous funerary temples dating back to the 18th to 20th dynasties. It is considered one of the largest temples dedicated to commemorating the memory in the modern state. Its length from east to west is 320 meters and its width from north to south is 200 meters. It is surrounded by a huge mud brick wall 17.7 meters high and in front of it is another wall of stone with balconies 3.9 meters high. It is likely that the temple was built in two stages. The first includes the temple itself and its annexes within a rectangular wall. The second stage began in the second half of the reign of Ramses III and includes the outer wall. In this wall we find two large fortified gates in the east and west. Between the two walls in the north and south are the homes of the temple employees and priests. The engineers of Ramses III built the outer wall and built a dock for ships in front of the fortified entrance on the eastern side and dug a pond as well.
